The garage sale is over! Though bittersweet, it felt good to know that there are still ways of earning without getting too stressed. Finished cleaning our space together with Van and the rest of the team. All in all we were able to sell a decent amount. Not only that, some relatives and friends were also able to earn from the garage sale. There were still a number of items we weren't able to sell but given the time and the amount of stuff that we had, it was indeed successful. Not only were we able to offer items that are within the budget of almost everyone, we were also able to clean the house from the stuff that we don't use anymore.
It might take a lot of tedious work. Fixing and sorting out the things in the store was the main bulk of the work but it was all worth it. Of course, like any other business there are lean days but our average sales per day was P1,500 - P2,000 which was not bad. Not to mention the intangible riches that we acquired: time together, improved logical and mathematical skills, the discovery of one of the most delicious barbeques in QC, new friends, cleaner homes, improved communication and bargaining skills and many more.
We learned that price was a huge factor in garage sales as well as new offerings. When it was down to our last 3 days, we held a sale where we sold the clothes at 20 - 100 pesos except those that were given to us by friends. We also had some little freebies to give away. The freebies were also stuff that we didn't use anymore. It was funny how people still bargained with us for the items that were sold at 20 / 10 pesos. Close to the end, we just wanted to sell as much as we can so we didn't have to pack as much.
We still have some treasures left behind - especially gowns which will now be up for rental. If in case any of you would need one for any occassion, you may call 7821813. I also have several books and CD's on hand and I might just give them away. We also have a lot of clothes that are up for charity. If any of you want them, just simply leave a comment and let's see how I can hand them to you.
To cap off our project, Van and I had a trip to La Mesa Dam Ecopark and it was beautiful. It's comforting to know that there is still a sanctuary within the city where we can get to appreciate nature. We walked under the rain and enjoyed the view as we spoke about the future and all the little things in life that we learned to appreciate.
We also found out that earthworms are expensive! 1800 per kilo of icky worms who help the envorinoment by decomposing trash. They should just breed a humungous earthworm so that it can gobble up the world's trash and poop it out as fertilizer so we'll have more trees that can suck up the water when it's raining hard. The rain nowadays are crazy heavy.
I would like to thank Van and his family for sharing with me their space along shorthorn congressional avenue and for helping me and staying with me throughout the garage sale. I wish we sold more gowns though:( No worries, we'll work on the rentals. I would also like to thank my family, mom, dad, henrick, ate for filling up the store and for lending me the car. I woudl also like to thank my friends, namely Abby, Aspe and Clarice who participated as well. I have yet to return to you your stuff and your earnings.
For those who are currently doing one - good luck! :) For those who are putting up one - don't worry, once you have all of your stuff on display, selling will be a breeze:) For those who are planning to do one, Go! Go! Go! I highly recommend it!
Shorthorn won't ever be the same again:) Now, I bet everytime I pass by it, I'll say hi to some people and do a little smile on my face as I reminisce what has happened.
