As promised, here are some updates on what's been happening on our garage sale...So far, so good! In less than a week, we've collectively earned half of the rent of the commercial place we got. Individually, it's even more than what I've been making (based on my daily rate) in all my previous jobs. I've officially cleaned out my closet and my room of all the things I don't use anymore...good thing there are two families who are selling and a good friend will also have her stuff on display so we have lots of new things to offer.
The experience has been giving me a whole new outlook about money. Now, I am more careful about how I take care of the money I make from the sale since it is literally our sweat. It's also nice to have a cash in / cash out experience where there are no percentages or rates to think of. Just plain earnings. Plus, it's tax free!
A very special bonus is the bonding experience that Van and I have especially during our peak hours. The customers keep on asking about our relationship and luckily I have an innate ability to hold my blush since there are times that Van's answers are just too sweet to handle. Even during lean hours, we find ways to make the silence worthwhie by playing games on paper like tic tac toe or battleship. The neat freak in us also sometimes come out and we end up cleaning the store whenever there's no customers. If not, we watch reruns of Glee Season 1.
About customers, I'm also starting to gain a few friends already. Most of them are from the manpower agency just beside us. They are so fun to be with and they have a light and simple view on life. There was even this young boy who is an out of school youth who managed to jump from one postiion to another in the company out of pure talent. Now, he's saving up for school and is even planning to become a recording artist. He bought most of our gym equipment to shape his body up to suit his dreams.
We also met a prisoner who was pardoned after 7 years. He sold us a wind chime that his co-prisoners before made inside the cell. It was pure craftsmanship. It was so touching how honest he was that he killed another person because they were harrassing his sister. I would've done the same if goons harrassed any of my loved ones...even our dogs.
Now, the store is quite empty again and we need new things to offer. If in case you'll be interested to put your stuff, you can call me directly at 7821130. Just list down your LOWEST price and we'll display your items for you. Some tips - select items that you can sell from 1000 below. Have a wide variety of items too. Clothes, bags and gadgets are in demand.
